Best of the Lake Cumberland Events & Kentucky Festivals! For the best of boating in Kentucky, the Lake Cumberland Poker Run will return in 2021! From power boats to fun boats, all boats can participate.
A Poker Run is an organized event where participants must visit five to seven checkpoints, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run.
The Lake Cumberland Poker Run has become one of the nation’s most popular speedboat attractions. For the competitors and viewers, it has the best “straight-shot” boating opportunities among all Kentucky lakes.
Most of the speedboat action occurs on Friday and Saturday, but the competitors and other boaters typically end up staying through Sunday to enjoy the Lake Cumberland area attractions.
A perennial favorite that you won’t want to miss is the Lake Cumberland World’s Largest Raft Up – Returning in August 2021 – where thousands of boats come together. Lake Cumberland Raft Up participants call it the “Gauntlet”. For additional information on these Lake Cumberland events, call the Lake Cumberland State Dock Marina at 270-343-2525.
Come enjoy one of the biggest Lake Cumberland boating events. Friday traditionally kicks off a weekend of fun, music, and fast boats. Lake Cumberland has a great mix of cabins, hotels and accommodations to help you relax and have a great time.
Poker Run 2019 Lake Cumberland
- Registration begins on Thursday, September 5th.
- This is a two-day event starting on Friday at Noon and ending at 7pm on Saturday.
- There is no driver’s meeting on Saturday morning.
- There is no shotgun start on Saturday morning.
- Visit any 5 of the 9 marinas on the lake to make up your hand.
- There is no particular order to visit each marina.
- All Playing cards must be turned in by Saturday, 7:00 pm.
- Don’t forget to visit the legendary Harmon Creek to see the most amazing boats in the business!
- HAVE FUN – BE SAFE!
- Straight Flush – All five cards of the same suit and in sequence, as the 6,7,8,9 and 10 of diamonds. Highest ranking straight flush is the 10, J, Q, K and Ace of one suit called a Royal Flush.
- 4 of a Kind – Such as four aces or four sixes, it does not matter what the fifth, unmatched card is.
- Full House – Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank, such as 8,8,8,4,4.
- Flush – 5 cards of the same suit, but not all in the same sequence.
- Straight – Five cards in sequence, but not all of the same suit.
- 3 of a Kind – Three cards of the same rank such as 8, 8, 8, K, 3.
- 2 Pair – A hand with 2 pairs & the 2 pairs are of different ranks.
- Pair – A hand with two cards of equal rank
- High Card – Five cards which do not form any of the combinations listed above. Highest card wins.

Note: If five of a kind such as 5 queens does occur, it will beat all of the above combinations. Also, all ties will be handled by a team choice of either splitting the prize or higher cut of the deck.
